Each port offers high speed data communication with unidirectional
serial throughput up to 460k bits per second (bps) and parallel speeds
exceeding 60k characters per second (cps). The Model 24SII
controller board is used primarily as a data communications bus with
throughput capability up to 5.5M bps. The controller board allows
direct communication with the connected modules or routes data to
the memory module for print spooling. The dynamically allocated
buffer is available from 1MB up to 16MB.

Other features of the Model 24SII DES include:

1)

High-speed data transfer to handle faster computers and
software;

2)

Networking between pairs of computers or computers and
other devices such as modems, bar code readers, etc.;

3)

Optimum flexibility: You select the right combination of serial
and parallel ports to meet your needs when ordering, and set
any port (other than Port 1 of Module 1) as a computer port or
a printer port;

4)

Expandability so the system can grow with you;

5)

Compatibility with virtually all computers, printers, plotters,
modems and other peripherals;

6)

RJ-11/RJ-45 modular connectors on the serial ports are
optionally available to provide ease in cabling using four
or eight conductors.

7)

IBM compatible software to allow for peripheral selection from
within Windows or graphics programs.
