the Model 24SII DES.

These are the Device
Names that print after the
I.D. Page Message, if
enabled.
You may wish to use these
same Logical Names when
running the PC SETUP
program.

All others =
computer
Port 1 of Module 1 must
always be configured as a
computer port. All ports
may be designated as
computer ports.
Printers should be
connected to ports
designated as printer ports.
Plotters should be
connected to ports
designated as printer ports.
Modems should be
connected to ports
designated as computer
ports.
When the Port Designation
is changed for any port,
the printer assignment on
all computer ports
automatically resets to
zero, putting the
computers in the
contention mode.

Non-printable characters
are acceptable, but they will
not appear in the status

Ensure the Port Select
Code is made up of unique
characters to prevent
changing printers in the
middle of a print job.

DES will change printers
before the end of the
specified timeout period if a
Port Select Code is
recognized.
(B) Beginning: Model 24SII
DES will change printers
only at the beginning of a
print job.
Anytime: Required for LAN
File Servers.
Beginning: Prevents
recognition of the Port
Select Code if it appears in
the middle of a document,
i.e. some graphics
programs may use
$SELECT to perform
some other function.
