Roll the pad smoothly from the applied edge to the other, being careful not to trap any air
pockets between the gel and skin.

Note:

If it is not possible to place the “BACK” pad on the patient’s back, the pads should be
placed in the standard apex-sternum positions. Effective defibrillation will result, but
pacing will usually be less effective.

1 Select ON

The unit beeps 4 times to indicate that it has passed the power on self test, and the green AED
label and the ON mode selector light up on the front panel.

If no hands-free therapy electrodes have been attached to the patient and connected to the
R Series, the ATTACH PADS message and voice prompt will be issued.
