Unless otherwise specified, the terms XP disk array and storage system in this guide refer to the
following disk arrays:

HP StorageWorks XP24000 Disk Array
•
HP StorageWorks XP20000 Disk Array
The GUI illustrations in this guide were created using a Windows computer with the Internet Explorer
browser. Actual windows may differ depending on the operating system and browser used. GUI
contents also vary with licensed program products, storage system models, and firmware versions.
TrueCopy for Mainframe
TrueCopy for Mainframe Remote Replication software provides a continuous, non-disruptive,
host-independent remote data replication solution for disaster recovery or data migration over any
distance. TrueCopy for Mainframe supports both SMS and non-SMS managed data, is completely
application-independent, and is designed to run unattended.
For distances within the same metropolitan area, TrueCopy Synchronous software provides a
no-data-loss, rapid-restart solution. In enterprise environments, TrueCopy Synchronous software,
combined with Universal Replicator for Mainframe and the XP disk array, allows for advanced
three-data-center configurations for optimal data protection.
TrueCopy Asynchronous software can also be deployed for wide-area disaster protection across
virtually any distance. TrueCopy Asynchronous software uses a unique method of sequence numbers
and timestamps in each data record to ensure proper sequencing and data integrity during
transmission and recovery.
This document describes and provides instructions for performing TrueCopy for Mainframe operations
on the XP disk array using the TrueCopy for Mainframe software on the Remote Web Console.
The licensed TrueCopy for Mainframe software displays the TrueCopy for Mainframe information
and allows you to perform TrueCopy for Mainframe operations. For further information on the
Remote Web Console, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console User's
Guide.
TrueCopy for Mainframe operations can also be performed from the mainframe host using IBM
PPRC commands.
