If there is a network problem, lack of bandwidth, or lack of sufficient Fibre links, the sidefile will
grow and the microcode will add delay to host I/O until the sidefile goes below a certain level
again. Disabling this function will cause the pairs to suspend.

IMPORTANT:

SIM reporting for sidefile conditions is enabled only when system option mode

118 or 464 is ON (see

“XP Disk Array Modes for TrueCopy for Mainframe” (page 12)

). The

reported SIM(s) when system option mode 118 or 464 is ON, however, do not support a CLPR.
When this SIM is reported to the host, the SIM reference code is indicated as 490x-yy (x is CU
number, and yy is LDEV number). For further information on the SIM reference code, call the HP
technical support.

You can disable the command retry delay for a limited number of critical volumes using the special
No delay parameter for the CESTPAIR TSO command. When this parameter is set, the HP disk
array will not delay host write I/Os to the M-VOL until the sidefile amount reaches the puncture
threshold (threshold + 10%). This prevents performance degradation for critical volumes and should
be used only for a small number of volumes.

TrueCopy Open/MF Consistency Group Operations

You can specify a consistency group for XP Continuous Access synchronous pairs using RAID
Manager. You can also specify a TrueCopy for Mainframe consistency group for synchronous
pairs using Business Continuity Manager.

If an XP Continuous Access synchronous pair and a TrueCopy for Mainframe synchronous pair
are registered in the same group, you can ensure the consistency between both pairs in the same
group. Also, If only XP Continuous Access synchronous pairs or only TrueCopy for Mainframe
synchronous pairs are registered in the group, they behave like default Consistency Groups. For
more information about XP Continuous Access synchronous pairs, see the HP StorageWorks
XP24000/XP20000 Continuous Access Software User's Guide
.

For details about the creation of pairs and specifying consistency groups for XP Continuous Access
Synchronous or XP TrueCopy for Mainframe, and the consistency group operations, see the HP
StorageWorks RAID Manager User Guide
or the HP StorageWorks Business Continuity Manager
Software User Guide
.
