HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager
Configuration Objects

The HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager utilizes appliance profiles and appliance
groups
to facilitate centralized configuration and reporting.

You use profiles as configuration templates to ensure proper configuration for groups
of HP EFS WAN Accelerators that must have the same configuration for common
network settings, routing rules, and feature settings. You apply one or more profiles to
HP EFS WAN Accelerator groups to ensure that all appliances in the group share the
common configuration. For example, you might create a basic configuration profile
(Base) for all appliances that includes in-path settings, event and failure notification
settings, and logging options; and separate profiles that define protocol support that
enables CIFS or MAPI features (CIFS, MAPI). You would apply the basic profile to
all groups and the protocol-specific profile only to the group of appliances that require
the protocol-specific settings.

All HP EFS WAN Accelerators belong to the default group all. Appliances can belong
to multiple groups. Appliance groups can contain zero, one, or more appliances. You
use groups to coordinate mass configuration (configuration push) and aggregated
reporting. For example, you might create many configuration-oriented groups that are
related to the profile settings (Base, CIFS, MAPI); and many reporting groups in
addition to the group all, perhaps based again on protocol support (CIFS, MAPI) or
on geographic location (Asia, Europe).

The following figure illustrates the relationship between profiles, groups, and
appliances.
