When open, as shown in Figure 4.11, film can be placed

into the strip film holder. Position the desired frame so

that it aligns with the window in the film holder. Only
one frame of the strip film can be scanned at a time. To
scan more than one frame, the film must be

repositioned in the strip film holder.

Positioning the fiim in the holder

There is one window on the strip film holder as shown

in Figure 4.11. The film that resides in this window will
be visible to the scanner for scanning. Therefore, it is
necessary to align the desired frame of film with this
window when positioning the film in the holder.

Film strips are typically limited to six frames because of

the depth restrictions of the scanner. No film can extend
out the front of the strip film holder. Due to the length of
the strip film holder, no more than two frames can

reside in front of the desired frame.

It is therefore necessary to position the film in the

scanner so no more than two frames are to the front of
the window in the strip film holder.

As with slides, the emulsion side of the strip film should
be face down in the strip film holder so that it will also
be face down when Inserted in the scanner.
