12. SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS
12.1 Black Globe Thermometer
The Black Globe Sensor consists of a thin copper
sphere approx. 40 mm in diameter (150 mm also
available), coated with a matt black paint. In the
centre is a Platinum Resistance Temperature
Device (PRTD) temperature sensor, which is
supported by a plastic tube.
The support tube extends out of the sphere and
connects directly to the mains support tube. The
sensor and main tube support are plastic, isolating
as far as is practicable the copper sphere and
temperature sensor from direct thermal contact.
At the end of the main support tube is a 5 pin
socket for connection to the central hub assembly.
