Defining 3D Source and Target Space (NewsEdit XT only)

Digital News Production

207

Moving the picture along the x-axis in the source space appears as a diagonal
movement across the screen because the x-axis is no longer horizontal relative to
the screen. Moving the picture along the x-axis in the target space moves it
horizontally left to right across the screen.

If the global frame of reference were rotated there would be three coordinate
systems:

• The source space still has a coordinate system relative to itself, though because

it is 'within' the target space it rotates with the target space.

• The target space is now the global channel and has its own coordinate system

relative to how it was rotated. The source space, effectively 'within' the target
space, is rotated accordingly.

• The monitor screen no longer shares a coordinate system with either the source

or target space, which have both been rotated.
