Automatic Sensor Cleaning

Whenever you set the power switch to <

1

> or <

>, the Self Cleaning

Sensor Unit is activated to automatically shake off the dust on the front of

the sensor. Normally, you need not pay attention to this operation. However,

you can manually perform sensor cleaning or can disable this unit as follows.

Activating the Sensor Cleaning Manually

Select [Sensor cleaning].

Under the

[Sensor

cleaning]

The screen will indicate that the sensor

is being cleaned. (A small sound may

be heard.) Although there will be a

mechanical sound of the shutter during

the cleaning, no picture is taken.

When Multi Shot Noise Reduction is set,

cannot be selected.

z

For best results, perform the sensor cleaning with the camera placed upright

and stable on a table or other flat surface.

z

Even if you repeat the sensor cleaning, the result will not improve much.

Immediately after the sensor cleaning is finished, the

[Clean now

f

]

option

remains disabled temporarily.

z

Dots of light may appear on the shooting screen if the sensor is affected

by cosmic rays or similar factors. By selecting

[Clean now

f

]

, their

appearance may be suppressed (

=

475).

Disabling Automatic Sensor Cleaning

In step 2, select

[Auto cleaning

and set it to

[Disable]

.
