The firmware on Monarch print servers is stored in flash memory. This means that
you can upgrade the firmware by downloading the appropriate update file. Such
update files are available on floppy disk (DOS format), CD-ROM, or Internet
access.

To download the print server firmware from a Windows NT or UNIX system using
master mode tftp, first copy the file XJET.BIN to that host. Make sure that tftp is
started by checking the appropriate files on your system (on Windows NT, TCP/IP
and Simple TCP/IP Services must be enabled in the Network Control Panel); with
UNIX, tftp must be enabled in your

/ e t c / s e r v i c e s

file and possibly in another

configuration file, such as

/ e t c / i n e t d . c o n f

. Refer to your system documentation

or the UNIX man pages for additional information.

To download the firmware from Windows NT, enter the following command:

t f t p - i i p a d d r p u t f i l e p a s s w o r d

where ipaddr is the IP address of the print server, file is the name of the load file,
and password is the print server password (

A C C E S S

is the default password).

To download the file from most UNIX systems, enter the following commands from
the UNIX system prompt:

t f t p i p a d d r e s s

t f t p > b i n a r y

t f t p > p u t f i l e p a s s w o r d

where ipaddress is the IP address of the print server, file is the name of the load
file, and password is the print server password (

A C C E S S

is the default password).
