ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

• Check the weld cables and control cables for cuts
• Blow out the slides.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

• Every 6 months, check wire drive motor brushes.

Replace them if they are less than 1/4” (6mm) long.

• Every 6 months, lubricate the front axles.
• Every 12 months, inspect the wire drive gearbox and

coat the gear teeth with moly-disulfide grease. DO
NOT use graphite grease.

CALIBRATION SPECIFICATION

Wire Feed Speed
There is no wire feed speed calibration adjustment for
the Cruiser.

To validate wire feed speed:

• Turn off Touch Sensing with P15 in the Set-Up

Menu.

• Adjust the wire feed speed to 100 in/min (2.54

m/min)

• Inch the wire down and measure the actual wire feed

speed with a calibrated wire feed speed tachometer.
(K283)

• The measured wire feed speed should be within 98

to 102 in/min (2.49 to 2.59 m/min) [±2%]

Travel Speed
When using the K396 track, the P12 Wheel size para-
meter should be set to 5.65 in.

To validate and calibrate travel speed:

• Set the Travel Speed to 30 in/min (7.6 m/min)
• Engage the clutch and use the manual travel speed

switch to travel the tractor for 60 seconds.

• Measure the distance traveled.
• Adjust P12 Wheel Size in the Set-up menu as fol-

lows

Example:

Set travel speed = 30 in/min
Actual travel speed = 29 in/min
Existing P12 wheel size = 6.00 in

• When inching with gun trigger, electrode and

drive mechanism are “hot” to work and ground
and could remain energized several seconds
after the gun trigger is released.

• Turn OFF input power at welding power source

before installation or changing drive roll and/or
guide tubes.

• Welding power source must be connected to

system ground per the National Electrical Code
or any applicable local codes.

Only qualified personnel should

perform maintenance work.
