Return Codes are strings of one or more characters that are presented to the operator on the LCD
display as a result of initiating status checks or tests of the Cash Dispenser. The commands for
initiating these tests are accessed from the DIAGNOSTICS menu in the MANAGEMENT FUNC-
TIONS area. (See Section 5, Management Functions, for instructions on accessing the DIAGNOS-
TICS menu.)

This section of the manual will cover interpreting Return Codes that are received after executing
the PURGE, TEST DISPENSE, and STATUS commands. The following areas are addressed:

1.) READING RETURN CODES.
2.) GENERAL STATUS CODES.
3.) STATUS (FEED CHANNELS 1-4, REJECT CHANNEL AND TRANSPORT CHANNEL).

These functions are specific to the operation of the cash dispensing mechanism. Other functions in
the DIAGNOSTICS area that do not require specific treatment here are covered in the applicable
areas of Section 5, Management Functions.

Return Codes consist of a series of one or more characters in a ‘string’. This string of characters
will contain very specific information concerning the operational status of the area being tested.
Use the following as a general guide when reading a Return Code string:

1.) Read the Return Code string on the Cash Dispenser LCD display, from left to right.

2.) Match each character in the Return Code string to the corresponding character-position in the

Return Code interpretation chart provided. The charts provides a way to match each character
in the Return Code to a statement that explains the meaning of the actual character value that
appears in that position. If any additional characters (beyond what are covered in the charts)
appear at the end of the Return Code string, ignore them.

3.) The character-positions in the charts are made up of letter-codes. Each letter-code represents a

particular parameter or value type. For example, the letter code ‘S’ is the first character in each
Return Code string and is called the ‘General Status Code’. The character in the actual Return
Code string that corresponds to this character-position provides General Status Code informa-
tion. The value that can appear in the ‘S’ position of the Return Code may be a number, letter,
or other character (the meaning of each value is fully covered in the next topic). Unless other-
wise directed, use the following table to obtain the type of each character in the Return Code
string:
