Read / Write

*3

This data volume pair is not synchronized,
because the user has split this pair (pairsplit-r)
or because the user has released this pair from
the secondary storage system (pairsplit-S). For
XP Continuous Access Journal pairs, the primary
storage system and secondary storage system
keep track of any journal data that was
discarded during the pairsplit-r operation.
While a pair is split, the primary storage system
and secondary storage system keep track of
the primary data volume and secondary data
volume tracks that are updated.

When you split a pair from the primary storage
system, the primary storage system changes the
status of the primary data volume and
secondary data volume to PSUS. When you
split a pair from the secondary storage system,
the secondary storage system changes the status
of the secondary data volume to PSUS. The
primary storage system detects this (if the path
status is normal) and changes the primary data
volume status to PSUS.

When you release a pair from the secondary
storage system, the secondary storage system
changes the status of the secondary data
volume to SMPL. The primary storage system
detects this (if path status is normal) and
changes the primary data volume status to
PSUS. You must release the pair from the
primary storage system in order to change the
primary data volume status to SMPL.
