C

CAT5. A description of network cabling that consists of four twisted pairs of
copper wire terminated by an RJ-45 connector.

ControLinX. Integrates and controls supported brands of lighting, automated
heating and cooling, and other subsystems with your DigiLinX IP-Based
Multi-Room Audio and Control system via IR, RS-232, or voltage sensor
inputs.

D

Daemon. A program that runs unattended to perform continuous or periodic
systemwide functions, such as network control.

DigiLinX. IP-Based Multi-Room Audio distribution that offers super high quality
multi-room audio and control. The DigiLinX system distributes audio over
CAT5 using TCP/IP on a segmented section of an Ethernet network – the
Home Entertainment Network, with no additional networking equipment
requirements. DigiLinX converts audio from a legacy source, in real-time, into
uncompressed audio streams (WAV), allowing up to 24-bit/96kHz, studio
quality audio to be distributed throughout a home or commercial facility. The
level of audio performance is limited only by the quality of the source material.

Domain Name System (DNS). The system that translates Internet domain
names into IP numbers.

E

EIM. Expansion Interface Module. A port used for expanding the capabilities
of a device. EIM is supported in both DigiLinX and Musica.

Ethernet cable. A twisted pair cable used to connect computers, hubs,
switches, routers, voiceboxes etc.

F

Favorites. Buttons that perform macros of common tasks and settings.

Firmware. Instructions and data programmed into the circuits responsible for
controlling the operation of peripheral devices.

G

Gateway. The IP address of a network point that acts as an entrance to
another network.

General Purpose Driver. Allows you to connect to additional third-party devices
(for instance environment or lighting) and control it from a DigiLinX system.

Group. A group is a collection of services (like rooms or intercoms) can be
combined to work in unison.

H

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning). A system that provides
heating, ventilating, and/or cooling within or associated with a building.
