Internet Protocol. A packet-based protocol for delivering data across networks

Infrared. A wireless medium of remote control, which sends signals to a device
via pulses, transmitted in the infrared light spectrum. Its use is restricted to
equipment within line-of-sight or reflections off a wall or ceiling.

KeyLinX. The KL101/201 KeyLinX keypads are single-gang in-wall keypads
that work for applications or audio zones where basic control of audio is all that
is required.

L

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). A type of display used in digital watches and
many portable computers.

Legacy Source. Any source (device) that does not have an ethernet
connection and must be converted from analog or digital audio signal to a
TCP/IP stream for a network. Examples are older turntables and cassette
players.

Light-Emitting Diode (LED). A semiconductor light source that emits visible
light or invisible infrared radiation.

Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN). A LAN is a computer
network that spans a relatively small area. A WAN is a network of LANs.

M

Macro. Multiple actions frequently used. Attached to a Favorite to allow
consumers one-touch access to common settings and tasks.

MediaLinX. Converts traditional audio sources to TCP/IP-Based streams.
Features RCA and Coaxial Digital Inputs for the connection of a CD player,
cassette or other audio source as well as loop out jacks for local system
connection. Includes video sensing, power sensing, and IR outputs for easy
control.

Media Server. A device that processes multimedia applications.

N

Native Source. A source with an ethernet connection that does not need to be
converted to get on a network. Examples are computers (MP3 and WAV files
only) and media servers.

P

PowerLinX™. Power supply for one SpeakerLinX, MediaLinX, or TouchLinX.

Power Sensing is the ability to tell whether a source component is powered on
or off.

Preset. Programmable button.

R

RCA Cable. The standard, single-ended analog cables used to connect audio
and video devices to each other.

Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP). A client/server communication protocol
that simplifies the distribution of multimedia contents on the Internet.

Registered Jack 45 (RJ45) - Modular 8 pin connector.
