Installing System Components

Power Supplies

Your system supports 750 W power supply.

NOTE:

The maximum output power (shown in watts) is listed on the

power supply label.

If two power supplies are installed, the second power supply provides

hot-swappable, power redundancy. When a power supply is removed with the

system powered on, the full power load is picked up by the remaining power

supply.

CAUTION:

To ensure proper system cooling, the power supply blank must

be installed in the PS2 bay in a redundant configuration. See "Installing the Power
Supply Blank" on page 104.

NOTE:

If only one power supply is installed, it must be installed in the PS1 power

supply bay.

Removing a Power Supply

CAUTION:

Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.

You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in
your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and
support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not
covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came
with the product.

CAUTION:

The system requires one power supply to operate the system normally.

On power-redundant systems, remove and replace only one power supply at a time
in a system that is powered on.

1 Disconnect the power cable from the power source.
2 Disconnect the power cable from the power supply and remove the system

cables from the Velcro straps.

NOTE:

You may have to unlatch and lift the optional cable management arm if

it interferes with power-supply removal. For information about the cable

management arm, see the system’s rack documentation.

3 Press the lever release latch and slide the power supply out of the chassis.

See Figure 3-15.

NOTE:

Install a power supply blank if you are not replacing the power supply.

See "Installing the Power Supply Blank" on page 104.
