• Clearance Between Shift Fork and Shifter
Groove
1. Measure the width of shift fork.
2. Measure the shifter groove width, and calculate the
clearance.
3. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace
them.

• Clearance Between Gear and Spline or
Hub and Spline
1. Select the gear or the hub in a vise.
2. Set a dial gauge (lever type) with its finger on the
spline.
3. Move the shaft (or hub) to measure the clearance.
4. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace
them.
