BALANCING THE TWO LINES

OF STITCHING

On some kinds of fabrics, there may be a

difference in the density of the stitches on
the right and left sides of the buttonhole.

This is easily adjusted by turning the push

button to balance the stitching. A very

slight turn will produce a noticeable

change.

Begin with the stitch-density balance

line in a neutral position (aligned with

arrowhead above dial).

• Turn the push button to the left to

increase the density of the stitches on

the left and decrease on the right.

• Turn the push button to the right to

increase the density of the stitches on
the right and decrease on the left.

When buttonholing is completed, bring
stitch-density balance line back to its

neutral position, if it has been altered.
