MENDING
Many zig-zag and Flexi-Stitch disc pat
terns are just as useful for mending as
they are for creative sewing. A few of
the ways in which you will find them
useful are shown on this and following
pages. You will enjoy discovering others
for yourself.

Tear Mended with
Multi-Stitch Zig-Zag
1. Trim ragged edges.
2. Place underlay on the wrong side of
tear for reinforcement. (It is best not
to baste or pin the underlay since you
will be bringing the edges of tear
together in the next step).
3. Stitch on the right side, bringing the
edges of the tear together.
4.
Shorten stitch length at ends and
corners to give extra strength.
5. Trim underlay.
Bar Tacks
Bar tacks, to reinforce points of strain,
are made with the plain zig-zag stitch
(Super zig-zag disc 201) at satin stitch
length. Use them at pocket corners, to
attach garters, secure shoulder straps,
belt loops and zipper openings.
