Chapter 4 Troubleshooting

You may encounter some problems while operating your printer. Please refer to this chapter for

solution.

You can check the operation of your printer using the self test. See “Printer self-test

function” on chapter Self-test. If the self test works properly, the problem probably lies in the

computer, the software, or the interface cable. If the self test does not work, contact your

dealer or qualified service person for assistance.

If you are an experienced user or a programmer, you can print a hexadecimal dump to

isolate communication problems between the printer and computer. To print a hex dump:

1. Firstly to install paper and turn off the printer. Next, hold down the LF/FF and TEAR

keys while you turning on the printer.

2. Send data to the printer. The printer prints all the codes it receives in hexadecimal

format.

4.1 Problems in Power Supply

Power is not being supplied normally.

Phenomenon 1: The LEDs on the control panel are off, and the printer has no action.

Solutions:

1. Check that the power cord is properly plugged into the electrical outlet.
2. If the electrical outlet is controlled by an outside switch or automatic timer, use another

outlet.

3. Plug another electrical device, such as a lamp, into the outlet to determine whether the

outlet operates properly.

Phenomenon 2: The LEDs blink temporarily and then go off. The LEDs stay off even

when the power is turned on again.

Solutions:

Check whether the printer’s rating voltage matches with the electrical outlet. If

not, unplug the power cord immediately and contact your dealer or a specified

Compuprint authorized service center or Compuprint Support for advice. Do

not plug the power cord to the electrical outlet again.

4.2 Problems in Printing

The printer does not print.

Phenomenon 1: The ONLINE LED is on but nothing is printed.

Solutions:

1. Check whether the Driver is installed properly for your printer, as described on chapter

Installing the Printer Driver. Check the driver’s printer settings.

2. Check both ends of the interface cable. Make sure the cable meets both the printer and

computer specifications.

Note: Press

LOAD/EJECT key while turning on the printer, you can run the

Chinese self test.

Press TEAR key while turning on the printer, you can run the English self
test.
