4.7.6.2 Static MAC Address

When you add a static MAC address, it remains in the switch's address table, regardless of whether the

device is physically connected to the switch. This saves the switch from having to re-learn a device's

MAC address when the disconnected or powered-off device is active on the network again.

1.

MAC Address: enter the MAC address to and from which the port should permanently

forward traffic, regardless of the device network activity.

2.

Port Number: select a port number.

3.

VLAN ID: If tag-based (IEEE 802.1Q) VLANs are set up on the switch, static addresses are

associated with individual VLANs. Type the VID (tag-based VLANs) to associate with the

MAC address.

4. Click

Add

button.

5. Use

Delete

button to delete unwanted MAC address.
