5.2.1 Cabling

RJ-45 ports: use unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) or shield twisted-pair (STP) cable for RJ-45 connections:

100Ω Category 3, 4 or 5 cable for 10Mbps connections or 100Ω Category 5 cable for 100Mbps

connections. Also be sure that the length of any twisted-pair connection does not exceed 100 meters

(328 feet).

5.3 Diagnosing POE problems

5.3.1 No Power Forward

Make sure your PD device comply with IEEE 802.3af standard, the 8 10/100TX plus One Exp. slot

unmanaged POE switch only support the IEEE 802.3af compliant PD.

The POE switch uses the signal power pair to forward power, the data and the power is traverse

the pin. Please, check the documentation for your PD device to make sure the power pair it uses.
