The CHECK DIGIT that appears after all parts of the PIN MASTER
KEY have been entered is similar to the checksum that is used to
verify that the data programmed into a memory device such as an
EPROM is correct. The CHECK DIGIT can be verified by doing a
RECEIPT PRINTER TEST from the DIAGNOSTICS Menu and
comparing the PIN MASTER KEY CHECK DIGIT on the printout to
the original receipt printout from the initial terminal setup. If the
CHECK DIGIT is different from the original, and the terminal is not
operating correctly, the PIN MASTER KEY is corrupt, and you
should contact your service organization for assistance.

If the PIN MASTER KEY is not entered correctly, no message traf-
fic can take place, so be sure to enter the key accurately. If your
second entry of the key does not match the first entry, you will be
warned and allowed to start over with the first entry.
To enter a digit 0-9, simply press the
key that has the desired digit, and a
‘*’ will appear. To enter a Hex charac-
ter (A through F), first press and hold
down the <CTRL> key. While holding
down the <CTRL> key, press the
numbered key (1-6) that corresponds
to the character you want to enter, as
listed in the table on-screen (1=A,
2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=E, 6=F). A ‘*’ char-
acter will appear. Release the
<CTRL> key. Repeat for each char-
acter in the key. Press the
<CHANGE> key to clear the entry and
start over. Press the <LEFT ARROW>
key to back up and erase a character.
You must enter the key sequence
TWICE for each KEY BLOCK: after
the second entry, you will be prompted
to enter a second key part. In most
instances you will answer NO to this
prompt, but in some cases a second
sequence of characters may need to
be entered (this requirement is pro-
