Record additional software instrument takes

When you’re recording, you can record multiple versions, or takes, in quick succession. Later, you
can preview the take recordings and choose which one you want to use in the project.

Recording multiple MIDI takes is only possible when Show Advanced Tools is selected in the

Advanced preferences pane.

Record multiple MIDI takes

Do one of the following:

Choose Record > MIDI Recording Options > Create Take Folders.

Choose File > Project Settings > Recording, then choose Create Take Folders from the
Overlapping Recordings pop-up menu.

Control-click the Record button

in the control bar, choose Recording Settings from

the shortcut menu, then choose Create Take Folders from the Overlapping Recordings
pop-up menu.

Turn on Cycle mode by doing one of the following:

Click the Cycle button

in the control bar (or press C).

Click the top part of the ruler.
The cycle area appears as a yellow strip in the ruler.

Adjust the cycle area by doing one of the following:

Drag the left or right locator.

Left locator

Right locator

Drag vertically in the locator fields in the control bar.
