Instructions for Use V 1.9 RevD – 05/2013

6.4 Storing the printer

If the printer is not used for a long period of time (up to three months), the

following instructions are to be followed.

Important!
• If the instrument remains connected to the power supply with the power

on, the ink cartridge can remain in the printer up to its expiration date.

• The print head drying out is prevented, because the printer regularly

rinses the print head.

• You MUST ensure that the ink cartridge is replaced according to its

expiration date.

If the instrument is switched off and separated from the power supply, the

following is to be done:

• Open the cover plate (5) on the left side of

the instrument by pressing its top left corner

(see

Fig. 36

). Then push the security latch (86)

forward

(

Fig. 61

).

• Pull the ink cartridge (66) approx. 3 cm out

of the instrument so that the "Ink Empty" LED

lights up.

• Screw the red cap (87) to the shutter (88),

close it securely and take the ink cartridge

out completely.

• Store the ink cartridge in a horizontal position

in a sealed container.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

The ink cartridge cannot be used in

another printer, because the ink level

information is stored in the printer

itself.

A printer may be stored for a maximum of three months after follow-

ing the procedure described below. Storing the printer for longer

periods may result in damage to the print head.
