Replacing a subcard

This section describes how to replace an MIC subcard on an MPE base card, an PIC subcard on a SPE

base card. MIC subcards are hot-swappable; PIC subcards are not hot-swappable.

Replacement procedure

1.

Put on an ESD wrist strap and loosen the captive screws on the subcard to be replaced.

2.

(Required only for the PIC subcard.) Power off the router or remove the SPE base card if the router
is operating.

3.

Replace the subcard on the base card:

a.

Rotate out the ejector levers to unseat the subcard from the SPE base card.

b.

Slowly pull out the subcard along the guide rails, as shown in

Figure 60

.

c.

Put the removed subcard on an antistatic mat or in the initial package.

d.

Gently push in the subcard (with bottom up) along the guide rails to fully slot the subcard in the
base card.

e.

Close the ejector levers and fasten the captive screws with a Phillips screwdriver to secure the
subcard.

4.

(Required only for the PIC subcard.) Install the SPE base card back in the router if you removed the
base card for replacing a PIC subcard in it.
