8.2 PROBLEMS
Error message displayed: NO MEDIA
Possible causes: Plotter has no paper or film.
Lid is not securely closed.
Latch pins need adjustment.
TOF/Media out sensor board defective.
Solutions:
1. Check the paper supply. Install more paper if necessary as described in Chapter 3,
Installation.
2. Check that the paper is installed correctly and the plotter lid is securely closed. The top of the
lid should be flush with the top of the side panels.
3. If the lid does not close securely or if the head pressure is too low this may cause a media out
error. Adjust the latch pins as described in Chapter 6, Maintenance and Repair.
4. Replace TOF/Media out sensor board.
Error message displayed: *_HOT!_*
Cause: The thermal printhead is overheated. When the printhead temperature reaches 60ºC,
the plotter stops plotting and asserts a “busy” signal to the host. Plotting resumes when the
head temperature has cooled to 45ºC which will prevent printhead damage caused by
overheating.
Solution: Do not intervene. The plotter will resume plotting from where it left off with no loss of
data when the printhead has cooled sufficiently.
Plotter does not plot
Possible causes: Lid is not securely closed.
Latch pins need adjustment.
Plot data is not reaching plotter.
Plotter circuitry is malfunctioning.
Solutions:
1. Check that the paper is installed correctly and the plotter lid is securely closed. The top of the
lid should be flush with the top of the side panels.
2. If the lid does not close securely, or if the head pressure is too low, adjust the latch pins as
described in Chapter 6, Maintenance and Repair.
3. Follow the flow chart to help identify the problem and take appropriate action.
4. Replace the main logic board as described in Chapter 6, Maintenance and Repair.
5. Replace the bulkhead data cable as described in Chapter 6, Maintenance and Repair.
