Paper is wrinkling or tearing along one edge
Possible causes:

Paper feed is misaligned.

Paper is incorrectly installed.

Lid is not securely closed.

Latch pins need adjustment.

Solutions:
1. Ensure that paper is correctly aligned while feeding. If using fanfold paper, you may wish to
obtain a fan fold paper tray from The Imaging Systems Group.
2. Check that the paper is installed correctly refers to “Media Installation” in Chapter 3, and that
the plotter lid is securely closed. The top of the lid should be flush with the top of the side
panels.
3. If the lid does not close securely, or if the head pressure is uneven, adjust the latch pins as
described in Chapter 6, Maintenance and Repair.

Plotter has no power
Cause:
If the plotter is plugged in to a functioning outlet, then the AC fuse has blown or the
on/off switch has failed.
Solution: Using a voltmeter check for voltage at the on/off switch AC input wires. If there is no
voltage present at the input of the switch, replace the fuse as described in Chapter 6,
Maintenance and Repair. Check for failed on/off switch, and replace if necessary as described
in Chapter 6, Maintenance and Repair.

Plotter display is functioning but motor does not function
Cause:
24 volt power supply is malfunctioning. Broken drive belt. Main logic board failure.
Solution: Check and if necessary, replace the 24 volt supply as described in Chapter 6,
Maintenance and Repair. Check and if necessary, replace the motor drive belt as described
in Chapter 6, Maintenance and Repair. Check and if necessary, replace the main logic board
as described in Chapter 6, Maintenance and Repair.

Changes cannot be made to control panel settings
Cause:
Plotter is in ONLINE mode.
Solution: Press the ON/OFFLINE button.

Plot output speed is erratic
Cause:
Plotter speed is set too high. This is most likely to occur on the 4.0 inch per second
speed setting. Lowering the plot speed enables the plotter to match a lower rate of incoming
data and produces a more steady output.
Solution: Lower the plot speed setting on the control panel as described in Chapter 4.

Form feed does not stop at top-of-form marks
Cause:
The top-of-form sensor is not sensing the marks.
Solution: Adjust the top-of-form sensor potentiometer as described in Chapter 6, Maintenance
and Repair.
