5.9 Managing hp visualize workstations

HP Visualize Workstations may be purchased from HP with three different operating system choices: HP-UX,
Linux, and Windows NT. Visualize workstations running Unix operating systems are supported as SNMP systems
by NNM if SNMP has been installed and enabled. These systems will be displayed on the NNM map with a Unix
icon.

Visualize workstations running Windows may install HP Toptools for Visualize agents. These agents have the same
management features as the HP Kayak Workstations except for Manage Drivers/Firmware. Refer to Managing HP
Kayaks for additional information.

5.10 Managing hp omnibooks

HP Omnibooks are displayed on the OpenView NNM map with a customized icon as shown in Figure 5-14.
Omnibook toptools menu actions are similar to those for HP Vectras and HP Kayaks. HP Omnibooks do not
support Lock/Unlock System or Protect/Unprotect. For an overview of PC menu items, see the section Managing
HP Kayaks.

Notebooks are frequently disconnected from the network, and as a result, may appear down in the NNM map or
display limited data in the Toptools Property pages as only marginal information is stored in the toptools database.
For traveling notebooks, it is recommended that you configure NNM’s xnmtrap service to ignore link down events
from notebooks or implement an event correlation. Consult NNM documentation for more information on
configuring NNM event management.
