Overview

Alteon Web switches performs content intelligent switching by processing numerous tasks for
each incoming session, including connection setup, traffic parsing, applying server selection
algorithms, splicing connections and translating session addresses, metering and controlling
server bandwidth usage, processing traffic filters, collecting statistics, and so on.

Figure 15-1

illustrates the process of content intelligent switching in the Web switch.
