Option 1 Considerations

1.

Works in both a domain and workgroup network environment.

2.

Recommended when using one workstation and one or more handheld
devices.

3.

Works with SQL Server, SQL Express, and MSDE.

Security Procedures: Option 1

When you use Remote Data Access Setup: Option 1, please be aware of
the following security requirements:

1.

The installer must have administrative privileges on the computer.

2.

The setup option may use SQL Server or NT Authentication with
MSDE, SQL Express, or SQL Server.

3.

This setup option does not require a Domain user account.

4.

Since IIS and SQL Server reside on the same computer, the Create IIS
Dependencies Utility (Start > Programs > IntelliTrack > DMS >
DMS Application > Create IIS Dependencies) may be used to con-
figure IIS and SQL Server permissions with this setup option. When
you run the IIS Utility, it will:
Create the virtual directory (erases existing virtual directory before cre-
ating the new one).
Set full control file permissions for the Internet user in the virtual direc-
tory.
Add the Internet user to the DMS_USER role in SQL Server. (This
does not apply to MSDE.)
Verify the Sync URL setting in the Batch Synchronization Utility. It
should be set to http://{computer name}/IntelliTrack/
sqlcesa35.dll
. For more information about the Sync URL setting
in the Batch Synchronization Utility, please refer to

“Sync URL Setting”

on page 34

.

The following applications are installed on the
same computer:

--IntelliTrack Workstation Application
--Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device

Center for Vista software

--IIS
--MSDE, SQL Express, or SQLServer
