Blocking or unblocking fax numbers

If there are people or businesses from whom you do not want to
receive faxes, you can block their fax numbers using the control panel
or the software. When you block a fax number and someone from that
exact number sends you a fax, your product shows a “Blocking”
message, and the fax does not print and is not saved in memory.
Faxes from blocked fax numbers appear in the fax log with a “blocked”
designation.

If you have blocked fax numbers, you can also unblock them
individually. You can also unblock all blocked fax numbers at once.

Note

To print a list of numbers you have blocked, see “Printing the Block Fax
list” on page 143
. Or, see the software Help for an easy way to print
this list from the software.

CAUTION

If the product loses power for a significant period of time, blocked fax
numbers might be lost. If the product is directly connected to your
computer, the software tries to rebuild the blocked faxes when power
is restored, but it may not be completely successful. HP recommends
regularly printing a blocked fax report so you have a current copy.
