ECM

Error Correction Mode:
Error resend mode of G3 communication. Confirms whether the data is
correctly sent to the recipient or not and if the data is not correctly sent,
communicates and resends the same data. If the recipient is set for the
ECM mode and as long as ECM off is not specified in this machine, the
communication is done by ECM.

Sender Fax No.

The identification code for the mutual recognition when fax is transmit-
ted. Normally the fax number is registered as the Sender fax No.

F-code

This is the communication procedure about the usage of the sub address
of T.30* standardized by ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union)
provided by CIAJ (Communications and Information network Association
of Japan). In the communication between fax with F-code function, vari-
ous functions that use F-code can be used even if the maker is different.
In this machine, F-code is used by the bulletin boards, relay request, con-
fidential box transmission and password transmission. (*Communication
standard)

Memory RX

Function to store the received original in memory and to print if required.

Frame Erase

A function for erasing the black shadow appeared on the left, right, upper
and lower side of the original while scanning the original formed of book-
let keeping ADF open and then transmitting the fax.

G3

A Fax communication mode standardized by the ITU-T (International Tel-
ecommunication Union). There are G3 and G4 communication modes.
Currently, G3 is the most frequently used mode.

Group

Grouping of the abbreviation No. of multiple groups. It is convenient
when there are large numbers of reception of sequential broadcast and
sequential polling in the same address.

Incoming

Status where the fax machine answers the call.

Long Original

A function for sending original pages longer than A3 size (420mm/16-1/2
inch). Long originals can be transmitted after specifying the setting for
long originals.

Main scanning di-
rection

Horizontal direction for scanning originals.

Manual transmis-
sion

Operation to send a fax while checking the conditions of the receiving
machine.

Memory

A location where data is temporarily stored. The memory is used when
communication is specified or temporarily stored in the original.

Memory overflow

Condition where the fax memory becomes full when scanned originals or
temporarily stored originals are stored.

Memory transmis-
sion

Procedure for starting a fax transmission after an original is scanned and
stored in the memory. If the memory transmission is used, the total
number of pages are automatically printed in the page number of the
transmission source information and an image of the first page of the sent
original is included in the transmission report. However, the memory may
become full if there are many pages in the original or if the data is large
due to fine image quality.

Mixed Original

This is a function to detect and send the respective size of original by set-
ting the original with different sizes.
