•
If a yellow caution symbol appears next to the button, the system is unbalanced, and you should click
the Balance Fixturing button.
Note:
If the Balance Fixturing button is disabled (appears gray), the fixturing cannot be balanced because
of one or more of the following:
•
The station power is off.
•
The actuator is moving.
•
a command is being applied.
Setting Fixture Limits
Quick access:
Situational Awareness panel > left side of diagram
Warning
:
Actuators can produce dangerous forces.
A moving actuator can injure anyone in its path.
Always set fixture limits before installing fixtures.
When you install fixtures, you typically set the maximum and minimum physical limit values to protect the
fixturing and load cell from getting damaged by the movement of the actuator.
Fixture limits are set using the sliders or fields on the left side of the virtual frame diagram on the Situational
Awareness panel.
Note:
To show all values on the diagram, click the Show the fixture and specimen limit values button
on the layer controls.
1. To set the Maximum Limit, click and drag the Maximum Limit thumb control to the desired limit. The
limit value appears. You can also type the limit value in the box.
2. To turn on the limit, right-click the thumb control. The Axial Displacement: Fixture: Maximum Limit
window opens. Click the On radio button. The thumb control turns blue when the limit is on.
3. Select the action that will occur when this limit is reached. For more information about actions you can
command the system to take when fixture limits are reached, see
(p. 157).
Recommended
:
Select C-Stop Interlock from the Action drop-down menu because it immediately stops
the actuator at the current position to avoid the possibility of retraction or extension of the
actuator after the interlock is triggered.
MTS recommends setting the Action to C-Stop Interlock in all cases. Before setting the
action to something other than C-Stop Interlock, contact an MTS service representative.
