to adjust only the tuning values of the control mode you intend to use (active control mode). For
dual-mode use, adjust and verify the tuning values of both modes iteratively until you obtain
satisfactory results.
1. Select Adjust - Adjust the selected tuning set.
2. Click Next.
3. In the What control mode would you like to optimize? list box, select Force or Displacement.
4. Define program command appropriate for anticipated test values by entering Target Setpoint, Amplitude,
Frequency, and Wave Shape values.
5. Check limits and actions, clear interlocks, apply power, and so on, to prepare the system to run the
tuning program. (The green check mark shows when the system is ready to tune.)
6. Click the green Run button to apply the tuning program.
7. Observe system response and adjust master inner and outer-loop gain controls to optimize system
response as desired.
8. Click Done to save the modified tuning values.
9. Repeat for displacement and force control modes.
Adjust Tuning (Advanced)
Important:
This procedure is intended for advanced users only. Improper tuning may result in unstable system
performance and equipment damage.
In this workflow, you will adjust individual tuning controls while applying program command and observing
the system response.
Important:
There is an interrelation between control modes when tuning. When you adjust the tuning values
of one control mode, the other tuned control modes are affected. After auto tuning, it is best practice
to adjust only the tuning values of the control mode you intend to use (active control mode). For
dual-mode use, adjust and verify the tuning values of both modes iteratively until you obtain
satisfactory results.
1. Select Advanced—Adjust the selected tuning set using advanced features.
Note:
If the tuning parameters in the current tuning set have been modified using the MTS Series 793
controller software, the Adjust Tuning windows in MP for MTS Acumen will be disabled.
2. Click Next.
3. In the What control mode would you like to optimize? list box, select Force or Displacement
7. Observe system response and adjust individual Proportional Gain (P), Integral Gain (I) and filter settings
for inner and outer loops for the selected control mode.
8. Click Done to save the modified tuning values.
