Note:

This window allows you to enter master gain multipliers for force and displacement in the outer
loop, and for velocity in the inner loop. The default is 100%. You can adjust the default multiplier
value for each master gain to increase or decrease the default gain values the system generates
in response to the Stiffness, Mass, and Damping values you enter.

5. Click Apply to save the new auto tune values over the current auto tune values.

Note:

If the Stiffness, Mass, and Damping values you entered are correct for the installed specimen,
system performance should be stable after you apply auto tune values, and you may choose
either:

Done, and proceed to start a test or operate the system in the force control mode, or

Verify, to test and manually adjust auto tune values in force and displacement control modes.

Verifying the Tuning Set

In this procedure, you will verify the quality of the tuning set in force and/or displacement control modes.

1. Select Verify—Verify the quality of the selected tuning set.

2. Click Next.

3. In the Select a control mode list box, select force or displacement.

4. In the Test Type list box, select the type of command you intend to apply to the specimen when you

perform a test. The verification function uses this information to optimize the process of verifying current
tuning values. Tension-Tension pertains to command that applies lesser and greater amounts of
tension to the specimen. Compression-Compression pertains to command that applies lesser and
greater amounts of compression to the specimen. Tension-Compression pertains to command that
applies both tension and compression to the specimen.

5. Enter the Minimum and Maximum Force values you want the application to apply to the specimen when

it generates the modeling program. Verify the quality of the tuning set for the selected control mode.

6. Check limits and actions, clear interlocks, apply power, and so on, to prepare the system to run the

modeling program. (The green check mark shows when the system is ready to tune.)

7. Click the green Run button on the verify panel to apply the modeling program. While the application

applies a random noise command to the specimen using the current tuning values, the Verification
Progress
bar shows the progress.

8. When verification is complete, the tuning quality graphs show the quality of system performance with

the current tuning values on the inner and outer loops of the selected control mode.
