open the calendar and set the Start Date to July 4 and the End Date to July 5. Next,
highlight the Resources entry in the Elements section and press the double arrow symbol
(>>). This will cause all the resource names to appear in the Application section. In effect,
we have requested that this exception be applied to our entire system. Expanding the
Resource entry would allow you to apply the exception to individual resources. Your
resulting exception should look as follows.

By accepting this dialog, you will return to the Exceptions window that will now contain
the new schedule exception.

Attaching a time pattern

Having created time patterns that define the capacity and availability of resources, you
must now associate or attach them to the resources that will use them. We do this using the
Database > Time Pattern > Composite Editor menu option, which will open the
Composite Time Patterns Editor window. For a FactoryTalk Scheduler application, you
will need to attach or associate a time pattern directly to a resource. To do this, expand the
Resources tree until each resource in your application is visible. Then select a resource by
clicking on the Capacity or Efficiency directly under the resource. You then select the
Value Type, Time Pattern, and the Value from the drop-down lists. In our tutorial, you
