Uneven seed
spacing
Excessive field speed Reduce speed.
Unclean seed Use clean seed.
Air leaks Check hopper lids, meter seals, manifold caps
and seed hose connections. Adjust latch and/or
replace seals as needed.
Erratic meter clutch Check for damaged cables and loose
connections.
Build up of seed treatment in meter. Clean out meter (see above).
Tower blockage Check towers for obstructions and plugging.
Blockages sometimes move from port to port in
towers.
Seed hose plugged Stop and raise drill with fan running. Hand-crank
meter and check for rows not delivering seed.
Row misalignment On hoe-type drills, check that openers are lined
up with press wheels.
Meter flutes worn or damaged Empty hopper. Inspect from above while a
second person operates calibration crank.

Hoses
Plugged Fan speed too low Increase fan speed. Check fan speed against
recommendations on page 73.
Hose damage Inspect hoses for leaks, kinks and crushing.
Replace damaged hoses.
Large foreign matter Inspect seed for material that can pass meter
but is too large for hose.
Excess hose slack - low sections are filling with
seed Re-route or take up slack in hoses. Leave only
enough slack for flex and fold.
Sharp bends causing seed pile-up Re-route hoses for gradual bends.
Air leaks causing erratic seed flow Check hopper lids, meter seals, manifold caps
and seed hose connections. Adjust latch and/or
replace seals as needed.

Hoses
Plugged Fan speed too low Increase fan speed. Check fan speed against
recommendations on page 73.
Hose damage Inspect hoses for leaks, kinks and crushing.
Replace damaged hoses.
Sharp bends causing seed pile-up Re-route hoses for gradual bends.
Metering with fan off Check for lift switch circuit malfunction or
hydraulic pressure switch malfunction on older
carts. If electric clutch has been locked-up,
meters will operate during all cart movement
unless gearbox clutches are disengaged.
Air leaks causing erratic seed flow Check hopper lids, meter seals, manifold caps
and seed hose connections. Adjust latch and/or
replace seals as needed.
Pest nests clogging hose (a risk if the cart and
drill are separated for more than a few days) Flush hoses. Seal any open hoses and ports
during drill storage or extended parking.
