Unloading the Cart

1.

Be certain the cart is securely hitched to a tractor with
adequate weight and power. See Tractor Require-
ments
, “Preparation and Setup,” page 11.

2.

Park cart on solid, level ground.

3.

Shut off all hydraulic power to the cart.

4.

Check that the auger-motor control on the auger body
is in the center, off position as shown in Figure 2-2,
page 15.

5.

Pivot the auger hopper until opening is facing up. To
turn the hopper, pull up on the hopper snap pin.

6.

Undo the latch clamp that holds the auger during
transport.

DANGER!

Keep clear of overhead power lines when positioning auger.

7.

Remove the retainer pin that holds the inner section of
the auger swing arm to the cart.

8.

Pull the auger away from the drill. Swivel the auger un-
til the hopper is centered under the meter-box unload-
ing door.

DANGER!

Keep hands, feet, hair, clothing or any items that could get
caught in the auger away from the inlet. If the auger becomes
plugged, turn off the auger and tractor before unplugging.

9.

Move the auger hydraulic diverter down to the auger
position as shown in Figure 2-3, page 15.

10. Position your grain container under the auger spout.

DANGER!

Rotating auger. To prevent serious injury or death:

Read instructions and safety information prior to operation.

Keep hands, feet, hair and clothing away from rotating auger.

Do not remove or modify any guards

Keep children well clear of work area.

11. Energize tractor hydraulics for the auger motor. You

may need to tie the control lever in place.

12. Start the auger by turning the auger-motor control left

or right as shown in Figure 2-6, page 16. Visually
check auger for correct direction of rotation. Reverse
handle if needed.

13. Slowly open the unloading door on the bottom of the

meter. When seed flow stops, open the calibration
door to ensure complete clean-out. Turn the metering
drive train using the hand crank as shown in Figure 2-
7 t
o make sure the meter is empty.

14. Turn off auger by moving auger-motor control to the

center, off position. Turn off the tractor hydraulics.

CAUTION!

Do not turn the auger hydraulic diverter until the hydraulics
have been shut off. If the diverter is moved with hydraulics on,
the drill markers or wings will suddenly begin folding.

15. Clean out auger hopper by pulling up the hopper snap

pin and swiveling the hopper to the side.

16. Swivel the auger toward cart. Place spout end in the

support arm and close latch clamp.

17. Replace retainer pin in inner section of swing arm.

CAUTION!

Follow manufacturer recommendations for protective gear
when using treated seeds.

18. Wipe top and bottom of meter-door flanges shown in

Figure 2-8, making sure all grain is removed. Look for
material caught between seal and flange. Close and
latch the doors.
