ADC1150 Air Drill Cart 167-101M

6/15/05

Great Plains Mfg., Inc.

Operating Instructions–Main Monitor

The system simultaneously monitors several air drill func-
tions, but the readout displays only one function at a time.
The top line of the readout displays the function. The bot-
tom line displays current function level. The unit of mea-
surement is displayed between the two lines. To view the
current level of a different function, press the up and down
keys to move between functions.

Alarms
Alarms are displayed when the parameter settings de-
scribed under Set Parameter Levels, page 41, are violat-
ed. When a parameter level is violated, the monitor will
beep repeatedly, the triangle indicator will flash, and the
top readout will display the fault.

To silence the alarm, press the ACK button. The triangle
indicator will continue to flash until you correct the prob-
lem.

NOTE: No alarms will be generated when the unit is in the
parameter-setting mode.

Multiple Alarms. If more than one alarm is tripped at the
same time, push the ACK button to acknowledge each
alarm in order of priority. The readout will not return to nor-
mal until all alarms are acknowledged. Alarm priority is as
follows.

1.

High Fan RPM

2.

Low Fan RPM

3.

Front Shaft RPM

4.

Rear Shaft RPM

5.

Grain Flow Blockage

6.

Front Bin Low

7.

Rear Bin Low

Ground Drive Alarm. When the cart electric clutch is en-
gaged, the system gives a short double beep whenever
ground speed moves above or below two mph. There is no
visual display associated with this feature. It is intended to
inform you that the cart clutch is operating properly.

Flow Alarms. If your drill is not outfitted with optional
seed-flow blockage sensors, the flow function must be set
to zero. If you do not zero out the blockage sensors, the
monitor will display a communication error. Follow instruc-
tions for disabling functions under Set Parameter Levels,
page 41.

If your air drill is outfitted with blockage sensors, the fault
message “FLOW” appears on the top readout when a)
flow blockage occurs or b) there is a communication
breakdown between the sensors and monitor. Refer to
Operate Mode, page 43 for more information on flow
alarms.

Bin Level
Bin level is always displayed on the bar graphs in the low-
er, right-hand corner of the monitor. Bin level is displayed
as full until the bin sensor is uncovered at about 20 percent
of bin capacity. The monitor will then display 20 percent full
on the bar graphs and sound a low-bin alarm.

Area Rate
There are two function positions for area.

Field area. When the triangle indicator for field area is lit,
the monitor displays area covered since the field-area
function was last reset. Field area will be displayed in
acres or hectares to the nearest tenth.

Total area. When the triangle indicator for total area is lit,
the monitor displays total area covered since the func-
tion was last reset. Total area will be displayed in acres
or hectares rounded to the nearest whole number.

To reset field or total area to zero, press the up or down
buttons until the area you wish to zero is displayed, then
hold the ACK button down for five seconds. The unit will
beep each second and then give one long beep, signalling
the area has been reset to zero.

NOTE: Zeroing total area will also zero field area.

Operating Instructions–Blockage Option

The blockage-monitoring system has three modes: test,
calibrate and operate. Normally, the system is in operate
mode. Test and calibrate are special modes used to test
the blockage sensors and calibrate the sensors to your
seed. This section explains when and how to use each
mode.

Test Mode
After installing the blockage-monitoring system, use the
test mode to make sure all sensors and modules are con-
nected correctly. To test the blockage modules and sen-
sors:

1.

Park the drill. You can enter the test mode only if
ground speed is less that two mph or the clutch is dis-
engaged.

2.

Set the displayed function to “FLOW” by pressing the
up or down key.

3.

Press and hold the ACK button. The monitor will give
four short beeps then one long beep. Release the but-
ton.

4.

The readout will now display “TEST” or “TST OK” on
the top line. The system is now in the test mode.

On the lower line, the readout will display in order each
module number and the number of sensors that mod-
ule is set to monitor. For example, if the monitor reads
“4.11,” the blockage module at address four is set to
monitor 11 seed hoses. As the test continues:
