5.

Accurately weigh an empty container large enough to
catch seed coming out of the meter.

6.

Place container under open calibration door. If your
cart is equipped with a calibration kit, loop bag han-
dles over the door handles and hook the bag to the
front of the meter. See Figure 3-8.

7.

Find the hand crank on the inside of the frame rail near
the gearbox. Use the crank to turn the drive clockwise
as shown in Figure 3-9. Turn crank 64 3/4 revolutions
for a one-acre seeding rate. Turn handle at a rate of
about 30 rpm (about 2 seconds per revolution).

Turning Meter Drive by Hand

NOTE: If you are applying more pounds per acre than your
scale will weigh, calculate the rate for one-half acre. For a
one-half-acre rate, turn the crank half as many revolutions.
Multiply your final weight by 2 for the one-acre rate.

8.

Wipe all material off the flanges around the meter
doors and capture in the container.

9.

Accurately weigh the container with seed. Subtract
the weight of the empty container. Re-adjust to a new
setting if this one is not acceptable.

10. When the seeding rate is acceptable, close the cali-

bration door, being careful the seal area is clear of all
foreign material. Remove and store the hand crank.

IMPORTANT: Turn the handle clockwise. Turning the
handle counterclockwise will meter seed at a rate far
below that applied in the field.
