When disengaged, the handle will move out slight-

ly. See Figure 3-4.

Gearbox Clutch

Move the gearbox shifters to the number and let-
ter indicated on chart. See Figure 3-5. If shifters
do not move easily, check that the clutch is disen-
gaged, then turn the metering drive train slightly to
relieve binding.

Engage clutch by rotating handle up. When en-
gaged, the handle will move in slightly. Refer to
Figure 3-4. If resistance is felt, turn the metering
drive slightly as shown in Figure 3-9 while engag-
ing the clutch.

IMPORTANT: To prevent gearbox damage, always dis-
engage the gearbox clutch before shifting gears.

IMPORTANT: Do not force the clutch handle into en-
gagement.

Checking Metering Rate

Before checking the meter rate, make sure the correct
sprockets are installed on cart drive system. Incorrect
sprockets will affect seeding rates. Refer to Cart Drive
System
, “Preparation and Setup,” page 11.

Open the calibration door on the meter box as shown
in Figure 3-6.

Put enough material in bin so there will be at least a
bushel left after seeding one acre. The amount need-
ed will depend on the meter rate.

Turn the hand crank a few turns to be sure the meter
stars are full of material.

CAUTION!

Obey manufacturer or grower recommendations for safety
equipment and protective gear when using treated seeds.

IMPORTANT: Do not open the unloading door. The cal-
ibration door is closer to the rear of the cart.
