7.4 Kinetics

When you press Kinetic, you begin by specifying the reading wavelength.

Use the number keys to input the wavelength to be read and press Enter.

Use the number keys to input the duration of the assay in seconds and press Enter.
You may collect data for as long as 9999 seconds.

Use the number keys to input the interval between successive readings and press
Enter. The shortest interval is 1 second and the longest is 999 seconds.

If you do not want to subtract a background reading, press Enter and SmartSpec
Plus will be ready to begin collecting kinetic data. If you want to subtract a
background reading, press Select to toggle from No to Yes and press Enter.

Use the number keys to input the background wavelength and press Enter.

SmartSpec Plus is now ready to collect kinetic absorbance data at the specified
wavelength. For best results, you should first zero the SmartSpec Plus by inserting a
cuvette containing blank solution and pressing Read Blank.

After the kinetic data are collected, SmartSpec Plus will reset for the next scan and then
display the Ready screen. If you want to change any of the kinetic parameters, you can
do that without exiting the assay if you choose Options from the Ready screen.
