The maximum number of devices that can make up the CAN network (32) depends on the bus load; the bus load
depends on the CANbus communication baud rate and the type of device in the network.
For example: a CAN network can be made up from a programmable controller, four I/O expansions and four user terminals
with 500,000 baud rate.
The maximum length of the CAN port connection cables depends on the CANbus communication baud rate, as follows:

1,000 m (3,280 ft) with baud rate of 20,000 baud

500 m (49,987.20 cm) with baud rate of 50,000 baud
-
250 m (24,993.60 cm) with baud rate of 125,000 baud
-
50 m (164 ft) with baud rate of 500,000 baud.
Connect the CAN port using a twisted pair cable.
