VII. EMBROIDERING AND

DARNING

Drop Feed

For

darning

and

embroidering

the

feed

must

be

dropped.

Moreover

the

stitch

regulating

lever

(B,

Fig. 23) must be set at 0, that is, in the middle of

stitch regulating scale, remove the presser foot from

the raised presser bar and raise the needle to its

highest position.

To drop the feed move the lever (A, Fig. 61) over to
the right. The article to be repaired or embroidered

should be stretched

tightly in the em

broidery

hoop

(No. 13, Fig. 3) and

placed

below

the

needle.

Lower

the

presser

bar

lever

as

for

ordinary

sewing, in order to
restore

the

tension

on

the

needle

thread

which

was

released

as

soon

as the lever was raised. After setting the bight lever

so that it does not vibrate and after setting the needle

at central position (see Fig. 26), embroidery and darn

ing work can be made on the machine, as is also

possible

with

ordinary

lock

stitch

machines.

The

tensions should remain normal.
