When you use the straight stretch stitch for stress seam or to seam knit, stretch,
and elasticized fabric, both stretch and strength are built into the seam as it is
being sewn.
STRAIGHT STRETCH STITCH #3

• Place garment right side up, under
presser foot.
REQUIRED SETTINGS
Stitch Selection: Straight Stretch #3
Needle Position:
Stitch Width: (j]| 11 f
Stitch Length: At dot (•)
Foot: Special Purpose (J)
Needle Plate: General Purpose (A)
Lower the foot and start machine,
holding the thread ends as the first
few stitches are made.
Guide the fabric lightly as you sew,
letting the machine make the back
and forth stitches that give stretch
to the seam.
Press seam after stitching.
RIC-RAC STITCH #5
This is a heavy-duty, stretch stitch that can also be used for topstitching.
• Sew seams in usual manner and press.
For topstitching hard-to-reach areas,
convert machine to free arm sewing.
