Quick-Select Paging

If the console has been programmed with paging aliases, an alias can be selected instead of manually
entering the paging type and capcode. To change from manual paging mode to alias paging mode use the

ALIAS

SELECT

UP or DOWN buttons. The quick-select buttons will overlay the numeric pad of the

Paging window, allowing the operator to select the desired alias.

This layout allows the operator to view eight aliases a one time. Using the UP and DOWN buttons
located to the right of the alias buttons, the operator can page up and down eight aliases at a time. Since
operators may require different sets of aliases, available aliases and the order in which they are displayed
is configurable per operator using the Operator Setup function.

Figure 17.

If no aliases have been configured, the numeric pad of the Paging window remains unchanged. The

ALIAS

SELECT

UP

and

DOWN

buttons will not respond. However, if aliases have been programmed

into the MCU but not configured using the Operator Setup function, they will be scrolled alphabetically
in the information window.

The labeling of quick-select buttons is derived from the CARD Suite database, and is not editable by the
Navigator GUI. The CARD Suite database enforces a limitation of 12 characters per alias. To maintain
visual consistency, the font of each label remains the same, regardless of the number of characters.

When an alias is selected in quick-select paging, the proper channel and frequency are selected for the
alias, if so programmed with CARD Suite. The operator can override the auto-base channel, if desired
and allowed with CARD Suite. However, it is recommended that the console be programmed via CARD
Suite to NOT ALLOW overriding of auto-base station selection. This practice removes the possibility of
paging an alias on an incorrect channel.
