Injector Internal Calibration (2-Way Injector+/2-Way Injector only)

Periodically, the

2-Way Injector+/

2-Way Injector and the Scanner require calibration of their

internal measurement circuitry. The Scanner will determine when internal calibration is required for
itself and the Injector. If required, the Scanner directs the Injector to perform the calibration. At
the same time, the Scanner performs its own internal calibration, synchronizing the calibration
times of both devices. Internal calibration is performed automatically and is required to account for
temperature changes. The only effect you may notice is an occasional slight increase in test times
while internal calibration is being performed.

Connections

The Scanner and the Injector are used together to perform measurements that allow the Scanner to
verify installed links or assist in the diagnosis of network problems at the physical layer. To
accomplish these measurements, the Scanner and the Injector are connected at both ends of a
network cabling link. The end at which the Scanner is connected is referred to as the
“PentaScanner end”. The end at which the Injector is connected is referred to as the “Injector
end”.

When the 2-Way Injector+ or 2-Way Injector is used for testing, the Scanner screens will display test
results for both ends of the link. Press the

F4

key to toggle the display between Scanner (

Penta

)

and Injector (

Inj

) test results.

Refer to the diagrams on the following pages for instructions on connecting the Scanner and the
Injector for both basic link and full channel tests.
