Modifying Schematics

A schematic is normally not entered one time but entered and changed several times. Modifying a schematic
is done by performing two steps:

select one or more items to modify,

then perform the modification.

Modifications can be done in several ways:

moving items,

duplicating items,

deleting items.

Selecting

and lines

A block, junction, connection line, text or label is selected by clicking on it with the left mouse button. The

selected item will be surrounded by a red rectangle.

To select several blocks or junction press the

key and select the next item.

It is also possible to select all blocks and junctions within one rectangular area:

Press the left mouse button outside an item,

Move the mouse with the left mouse button pressed down. A rectangular box is shown.
Release the mouse button. Now all blocks and junctions within this area will be selected.

It is not possible to select more than one connection line segment or more than one text or label at a time.
Multiple selections are only possible with blocks, junctions, inputs and outputs.
If all items within one schematic shall be selected the menu item Select All from the Edit menu can be used.
Deselection is done by pressing the

ESC

key. All selections disappear

Moving selected items

Selected items can be moved by the following actions:

Move the mouse into one of the selected areas (red surrounded).
Hold down the left mouse button.

Move the mouse with the button held down to the new position. The selected items will be moved to-
gether with the mouse.
Release the left mouse button at the fmal position.

If blocks are moved the connections are modified in a way that its relative position to the blocks are kept.
Also labels are moved together with blocks so that their relative position to the blocks are kept. If segments of
connections lines are moved the junctions are adapted to the new position.

Copying and Moving via the Clipboard

Portions of a schematic can be moved or copied within one schematic or between different schematics within
one project by using the clipboard

selecting Cut from the Edit menu (or

deletes the selected items from the schematic and puts

them into the clipboard,
selecting Copy from the Edit menu (or

places a copy of the selected items into the clipboard,

using Paste from the Edit menu (or

gets the items from the clipboard and places them into the

active window. Items that are pasted stay selected and can then be moved to the desired position.

If blocks are cut from the schematic all connection lines to not-selected blocks are deleted. The connection
lines between the selected blocks are kept in the clipboard. Pasting after cutting within the same schematic
doesn’t restore the position and connections of the selected blocks.

If blocks are copied to the clipboard all connections between these blocks are kept and all connections to not
selected blocks are not put into the clipboard.

Pasting from the clipboard is always done to a fixed position in the middle of the active window. After pasting
the items they have to be moved to their final position.
